An Outdoor Weekend at Fermanagh Lodges

Escape to Fermanagh Lodges for a weekend immersed in the outdoors. Paddle across Upper Lough Erne by kayak, brave a refreshing open water swim, and wander our woodland walk in search of seasonal wildflowers.

End your day dining al fresco before settling in beneath unspoilt night skies—perfect for stargazing, and on occasion, the magic of the Northern Lights.

We offer a wide range of self catering accommodation options, located across two sites, less than ½ a mile apart. We have accommodation options for groups of two, four or eight people, and can accommodate groups of up to 30. Check out Cygnet Lodge, Bluebell and Blackberry Cottages, Primrose Cottage, Woodland Lodges and Tree Top Apartments for more information.

Complimentary Sit-On-Top Kayaks

With every booking at Fermanagh Lodges between April and September, sit-on-top kayaks are included in your stay at no extra charge. All of our self-catering accommodation has direct access to Upper Lough Erne, and there’s no better way to explore the lough than by paddle power.

Sit-on-top kayaking is a fun and accessible activity, perfect for all the family. Our kayaks, paddles, and buoyancy aids are available on a self-service basis, so you can head out on the water at any time during your stay—weather permitting, of course.

Open Water Swimming

Not for the faint-hearted, open water swimming is a truly invigorating way to experience Upper Lough Erne. According to swimming.org, it can improve sleep, boost mood, strengthen the immune system and even help manage long-term health conditions.

We can’t promise all of that—but we can promise there’s something special about taking a dip in the cool, refreshing waters of the lough.

Please note: this activity is suitable for confident swimmers only. Children must be supervised at all times.

Alfresco Dining

All of our accommodation options include a charcoal BBQ and comfortable outdoor furniture, giving you everything you need to enjoy relaxed dining in the open air.

After a day exploring the lough and surrounding countryside, fire up the grill, unwind, and make the most of long, unhurried evenings outdoors. Whether it’s a simple breakfast in the morning sun or a leisurely dinner as the light fades, alfresco dining is all part of the experience.

Wildflowers on Our Woodland Walk

Our Woodland Walk is a small but ever-evolving project, which we hope to continue developing over time. This beautiful area forms part of the Trannish ASSI, recognised for its ecological importance.

Throughout the year, a variety of woodland wildflowers can be found along the path, making it a peaceful and rewarding stroll down to the water’s edge.

Stargazing & the Northern Lights

Thanks to our rural location, we enjoy exceptionally low light pollution, making our site ideal for stargazing. On clear nights, the sky comes alive with stars, planets and even passing satellites—we often use Stellarium to help identify what we’re seeing.

On occasion, we’ve also been lucky enough to witness spectacular Northern Lights displays dancing over the lough.

All of our accommodation features outdoor seating and private patio or deck areas—perfect for lying back on a clear evening and taking in the night sky.

A Fishing Boat Adventure

Take to the water with our fishing boat hire—perfect for anglers and anyone keen to explore the beauty of Upper Lough Erne at their own pace.

Our 6hp boats come fully equipped with everything you need, including anchors, oars, waterproof storage containers, laminated maps and a full tank of fuel.

With boats moored in our on-site 30-berth marina, you’ll have easy access straight from your accommodation. There’s ample parking nearby, and each cottage offers outdoor storage for your fishing gear.

Outdoor Safety
For your safety, children must always be accompanied by an adult while using the kayaks, swimming, fishing boat hire etc. We recommend checking the weather conditions before heading out and avoiding the water in strong winds or poor weather. Please bring a mobile phone in a waterproof case in case of emergency, and let someone in your group or on-site know your planned route and expected return time. Always wear the provided buoyancy aids and take care while on and around the water.

If you get into difficulty on the water call 999 and ask for the Coastguard or RNLI
