Cycling Adventures around Lough Erne

Fermanagh Lodges is a perfect base for a cycling holiday, with world class cycling available both around beautiful Lough Erne, and further afield. The Fermanagh Lakelands provide bikers of all levels with an unforgettable experience, boasting stunning landscapes, tranquil waterways, and a vibrant cultural heritage. Below we’ve provided you with some of our favourite cycling routes.
We offer a wide range of self catering accommodation options, located across two sites, less than ½ a mile apart. We have accommodation options for groups of two, four or eight people, and can accommodate groups of up to 30. Check out Cygnet Lodge, Bluebell and Blackberry Cottages, Primrose Cottage, Woodland Lodges and Tree Top Apartments for more information.
Our accommodation also has secure wooden sheds with power, perfect for storing your bicycles safetly at night, and recharging e-bikes if required. We also offer Wood Fired Hot Tubs which are a great way to recharge tired muscles after a day of cycle adventuring.

Fermanagh Lodges favourite Cycle Routes

Co. Fermanagh is a great place for a cycling break this year. Why not book a visit to Upper Lough Erne and explore some of the counties great cycle routes!
1. Our personal favourite, Fermanagh Lodges to Crom Estate**
The cycle from Fermanagh Lodges to Crom Estate is a loop just shy of 20km (there and back) and follows winding, quiet back roads, with views of Upper Lough Erne. It is a part of the Kingfisher Cycle Trail. Crom Estate is a National Trust Property, and if your legs are feeling fresh when you get there, there is a further 10km of trails to be taken in around this beautiful woodland and island estate (with two castles and Ireland’s oldest Yew Trees). Plus, there is a great coffee shop at Crom Estate perfect for a big slice of cake to energise you for the cycle back home!
2. Another personal favourite, Fermanagh Lodges to Trail Bay Jetty**
The cycle from Fermanagh Lodges to Trail Bay Jetty is just shy of 20km (there and back) and follows winding, quiet back roads, with views of Upper Lough Erne. Cruise past Corradillar and Geaglum Quays and visit the Old Crom Church with its ancient woodland. This route is partly on the Kingfisher Cycle Trail.
**Please note both trails from Fermanagh Lodges, start on the main road for a couple of kilometres and then switch to minor back roads, please cycle responsibly.**
3. Castle Archdale Forest Park
Located approx. 30 minute drive from Fermanagh Lodges, Castle Archdale offers great off road cycling for all ages. There is over 230 acres of mature woodland and 1000 years of history to be explored here, with some absolutely huge trees to be found whilst pedalling along the edge of the Lower Lough. There are lots of route options here, so you can get something to suit all abilities and it is particularly family friendly!
4. The Scarplands Trail
The Scarplands Trail is the LONGEST gravel cycle trail on the island of Ireland. Kicking off in Belcoo (which is just 20 minutes drive from Fermanagh Lodges) this trail offers over 100km of gravel trail options in the world famous Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark, perfect for biking enthusiasts. There are also a number of shorter loops too, with our favourite being Ballintempo Forest loop.
Visit https://cuilcaghlakelands.org/itinerary/scarplands-cycle-trail/ for more details of the different trail options.
5. Florencecourt Estate
There are over 15km of trails to take advantage of at Florencecourt, another National Trust Property in Fermanagh. The red trail is our favourite which follows a riverside trail steadily upwards until you are looking out at views of Benaughlin and Cuilcagh Mountains. From Florencecourt you can cycle over to the Marlbank Loop and the world famous Marble Arch Caves!
6. Blessingbourne Mountain Bike Trails
Blessingbourne Estate’s exhilarating 13k Mountain Bike Trails and pump track provides one of Northern Ireland’s premier Mountain Biking experiences. The single track trail has lots of features including jumps, table-tops, berms, rock-gardens and drops; and chicken-runs for the kids and the faint-hearted. It is located just outside the town of Fivemiletown, approx. 20 minutes from Fermanagh Lodges, and we highly recommend the Valley Hotel in the town for your lunch or dinner when your cycling for the day is done!
